Privacy Policy

Numberdle is a free daily number-guessing game at https://numberdle.com. This page explains what information the site handles, and how. It is written to be read rather than skimmed past — if anything here is unclear, email us and we will try to answer.

The short version

Who we are

Numberdle is run by a single independent developer. For any question about this policy, or to exercise any of the rights described below, contact: contact@numberdle.com

Information we do not collect

We do not ask for and do not store your name, postal address, phone number, date of birth, payment details or government identifiers. There is no login, so there is no password for us to hold. We do not sell, rent or share personal information with data brokers or advertisers.

Information stored in your browser

The game saves the following on your own device, using your browser's local storage:

This information never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to us and we have no way to read it. You can delete it at any time by clearing site data for numberdle.com in your browser settings; doing so permanently erases your streak and history, and we hold no copy that could restore it.

Information we do receive

Like almost every website, ours is served by a hosting provider, and that provider records standard technical information about each request. This typically includes the IP address the request came from, the browser and operating system in use, the page requested and the time of the request. This information is used to deliver the page, keep the site secure and diagnose faults, and it is retained by the hosting provider according to its own policies. It is not used by us to build a profile of you, and we do not combine it with any other data.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We keep that correspondence only as long as it is useful for answering you and tracking bugs, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

Cookies

The game itself does not set cookies. Your progress is stored in local storage, which is not a cookie and is not sent to any server.

Advertising and third-party cookies

When advertising is displayed on this site, it is served by Google AdSense and by other third-party vendors. Those vendors may set cookies or use similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Specifically, Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads, and you can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at https://www.aboutads.info/choices.

Where required by law, advertising cookies in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are used only after you have given consent through the consent message shown on the site.

Analytics

We do not currently run any analytics or tracking scripts. If that changes, this page will be updated before any such script is added.

Third parties we use

Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy. We choose providers that are widely used and that publish their practices openly, but we do not control what they do with technical request data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information held about you, to object to certain processing, or to withdraw consent you have given. Because we hold almost no personal information, most such requests will concern data held by our providers; where that is the case we will tell you so and, where we can, help you reach the right place.

To make a request, email contact@numberdle.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Children

Numberdle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because there are no accounts and no forms, the site does not ask any visitor for personal details. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our hosting and advertising providers operate globally, so technical request data may be processed in countries other than the one you are in. Those providers rely on their own legal mechanisms for such transfers.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top will change with it. Where a change is significant — for example, if we begin running analytics — we will describe the change on this page rather than quietly amending it.
