Before You Write About a Bug
Two things fix most reported problems faster than an email round trip. First, a hard refresh — an old cached copy of the game script is the usual culprit when the board stops responding. Second, check the date rolls over at midnight UTC, not local midnight; a new puzzle appearing at an odd hour is expected behaviour rather than a fault.
What to Include
A report I can act on usually has four things in it:
- Which browser and which device — “Safari on an iPhone” is enough.
- The date of the puzzle, since every day’s number is different.
- What you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
- A screenshot, if the problem is something visible on screen.
Lost streaks are the one thing I cannot help with. Streaks live in your browser’s local storage and never reach me, so when that data is cleared there is no server-side copy to restore — I have no record of your scores at all. The about page explains how that storage works.
Other Reasons to Write
Suggestions for traits that should count toward a rarity rating are welcome, and a few in the current list came in by email. Questions about how the daily number is generated are usually answered on the page about randomness and fairness, but write if something there does not add up. I am happy to answer questions about how the site is built.
What I will not do is reply to link-building offers, guest-post pitches or SEO services. Those go straight to the bin.
Response Time
Expect a few days. Numberdle is a one-person side project, not a staffed product, and some messages do get lost in the pile — if something is genuinely broken and you hear nothing back after a week, it is fair to send it again.
In the meantime: play today’s number game or read the strategy guide.
